The Consuming

Seeking to consume the societies of all sufficiently advanced civilizations, a previously unknown species began decimating the galaxies space-capable sentients. The conflict, while short, proved to cause far more damage, and set back the galaxy by a fair margin. Even now there are still missives coming in from survivors of what were thought to be lost systems requesting evacuation. Strangely, even from systems that were already thought to have been combed over for survivors.
