Anthropology

Here is the anthropological breakdown:


Orcs and Elves share common protoElf ancestor.
Klernaktha and Aarakocra are descended from dinosaurs (Both from therapods ... because reptile folk and bird folk).
Trolls, Ogres, Giants, Apes, Humans, Dwarves, and Goblins share a ProtoApe ancestor.
Sometime after Trolls branched off, the line split into protohominids and protogiants.
Ogres and Giants sprung from the protogiants.
Apes, Humans, Dwarves, and Goblins sprung from the protohominids.
Apes split off; the protohominids became protohumans.
Dwarves and Goblins split off from the protohumans.
Hobbits split off from protohumans.
Protohumans lead to humans.


Note that goblins and Orcs are not related. And while racial characteristics and politics may differ, Orcs and Goblins (and Ogres, Giants, and Trolls) are no more "evil" than humanity. Some Orc societies (admittedly the more enlightened ones that have given up on the "might makes right" political scheme) are actually quite civilized and play nice with others. Same goes for the Goblins, and even the Ogres and Giants pretty much will keep to themselves if left alone, and only eat people when convenient).
