Coins of Valenor
Valenor's Coins
The exchange of goods and valuables has been based on three types of currencies since time immemorial. The coins are similar in all kingdoms except the Phan Empire, weighing about 20 grams and are of worked metal and about 500-700/1000 purity.- - The Penny (Copper Coin): This is the basic currency, used for everyday transactions and small value purchases. A copper coin is enough to buy a loaf of bread or other very simple consumable items.
- - The Shilling (Silver Coin): Silver has a higher value and is used for more important transactions. A worker's daily salary could be one piece of silver. This coin is often used for a good lunch, to buy hard goods and items of moderate value.
- - The Crown (Gold Coin): Gold is the most valuable coin and represents great wealth. It can be used to purchase luxury items, high-value goods, or expensive services. Gold coins are also used to make investments or to carry out large-scale commercial transactions.
1 penny = A loaf of bread or a low-value item
3 pence = A mug of watered down beer
1 shilling = daily wage of a worker
10 silver coins = 1 gold coin
1 crown = 10 shillings
This system offers a clear hierarchy of coins, allowing characters to have an immediate understanding of the relative value of what they own and how much they can get for their coins.
