Leida, The Most Harmonious, Goddess of Winds and Travellers
Leida, the Most Harmonious, The Dancing Maiden, is the goddess of Air, and so is revered by Travellers, Windshipmen and Sailors. A small icon or figure of Leida is present on every vessel and ships, wherever they come from. She is also the goddess of youth and love, and a lot of promises are made by lovers in her name.
Description
Leida appeared as a strikingly handsome young woman, standing somewhere between the normal but notably tall height of 6 feet (1.8 meters) to the incredible stature of 18 feet (5.5 meters). Most notably are her wings, that change colour whenever a wind buffet moves them. She was clad in very precious, diaphanous robe, but also in the leather armour favored by most rangers as well as a dark, swirling cloak being constantly whipped about as if buffeted by the wind. Usually only her dark-haired head, her arms, and her massive wings could be seen clearly. Since her clawed feet never quite touch the ground she walks in silence, but was constantly accompanied by the keening whistle of the wind.
Personality
Leida was a joyful and kind deity who love to spoke, chat, sing and meet new people, her actions are always true to her words. When she get tired of company however, with a bit of secrecy she enjoy to walk on Valenor to interaction with new people. She liked to spread word of hidden places and have a good chat, particularly if she could trade jokes, often displaying a fine sense of humor.
Possessions
Leida wielded an enchanted greatsword called the Sword of Shadows, a weapon harmful towards goblinoids and giants and extremely dangerous to undead.Divine Realm
The Rider of the Wind maintained her realm called Shaunidaur on Ysgard's first layer.[6]The holy symbol of Leida
The Holy Symbol of Leida is a Cloud, a Wind buffet or a Swallow. The Dard in the cult of Leida use a Robin-on-a-branch brooch as a symbol of their devotion.Relationships
A primary problem for Leida was that of her rather broad idea of her portfolio. Her spheres of influence frequently overlapped, however slightly, with many other gods, none of which were likely to tolerate any further encroachments on their domains, which would be a potential hindrance to her long-term success. This applied even to allied deities of air, travel, nature, and light.
For example, most rangers venerated Danu (or failing that one of her allies) and her following among them was absorbed by her when she fell from power, even as in more recent times she was known to be friendly towards her. She similarly lost her following among merchants during that time to Brumbarr, although she managed to resurge in that area while Arva was holding her portfolio and even though she eventually returned, she was still closely allied with her, viewing their domains as complementary.
Leida encroaches on Thalassa's portfolio in particular, though they were still allies and at one point enjoyed a brief dalliance. She was also said to have once had a romantic relationship with Sela, another deity with a broad portfolio (which included navigation) from which ensued the birth of their daughter, Bright Nydra. Other allies of the Joyous One included the magical beast immortal Lurue and Nobanion, and more daring members of the Seldarine (namely Shevarash and Solonor).
While neither her ally nor enemy, Melethis was one of the deities potentially threatened by the the Joyouse one's broad idea of her portfolio. Leida's dislike of secrets also put her and odds with Sela.
History
After the magical chaos of the Fall of The Gates subsided, Leida returned to Valenor at the head of a throng of displaced people and creatures, who had been lost on other worlds. She began travelling the world in mortal disguises, revealing her true identity only to her most devout followers and priests.
In the year of the Blue Fire, 1285 NE, Leida disappeared without a trace, just to reappear 2 years later like nothing happened. Many of her worshipers kept the faith, with the temple of the Singing Winds continuing to receive pilgrims as normal.
