Page Zeitlin

Captain Page Alekou Zeitlin

She’s a mercenary. One that’s none too picky about who she works for...

Daughter from a career military family on Core XI, Page Zeitlin grew up understanding the lifestyle. In some ways, she was born to it. An innate strategic mind coupled with a “forward momentum” attitude was fostered by her uncle, the family patriarch Jerrick Alekou of Wuex Military Corporation.

Under her uncle’s mentoring, once she came of age, Page breezed through the requirements and entering the Wuex Military Corporation Training Academy. Excellent marks, hard work, and natural talent propelled her into ranks of the Wuex Military Corporation’s Advanced Recon Division.

Just in time for the Core Wars, where the universe was turned upside down.

The Battle of Winn Gap, Battle of Hyperion Station, the assault on Clarst Highlands, until the missions became a long blur. When the war ended, Page had fought for several of the Cores. Taking on the risks wherever the corporate contracts took her and leaving her with a ruthless reputation. Especially after the massacre she had to order during the assault on the Clarst Highlands.

She hadn’t wanted to. It wasn’t the sound strategy. But burning the opposing rebels down to the last one was the only way to get her team out alive. Page has always been loyal to her crew and always found a way to bring them back.

Until this last contract.

It had been simple. A basic retrieval contract to raid a rogue scientist, Dr. Demeltev Kana, who had holed up on an ancient derelict. The whole thing broadcast ‘simple’.

It wasn’t.

They died. All of them, including her. Only Kana didn’t let them stay dead. Using some ‘thing’ he cooked up using parts from the old exploration ship, he cloned her and her crew. Repeatedly.

When you look in a mirror, how do you know it’s you? How would I know it’s me?
— Page Zeitlin

At least until Mao Tanner and his scrapjacks arrived and hurled a big spanner wrench into the works and sent it up in flames.

Now, most of her crew was gone and Page hadn’t brought any of them back. She was ‘alive’. Michael Vega had been ‘digitized’ and stuffed into a bot. Maybe at least one more of her people. Maybe.

She’d failed.

Page needed a way back from that. A way to pay back all the red in her ledger. There was a lot of red and now it included her crew… and her.

How do you pay back that?

She didn’t know, but she was desperate to find out. Maybe with the scrapjacks, she’d find an answer.
