WarDroids
Sturdy, resolute, and with chassis of Flexsteel, WarDroids were the greatest, deadliest weapons of war humanity had ever devised. To many they were also considered possibly humanity's greatest mistake. Programmed for various tasks, usually combat, they were the stalwart combat units that saw the most combat in the wars.
Series 8 was the last WarDroid series to have seen combat. Rumor always persisted that the Droidmongers had created working prototypes for a Series 9 at the end of the war. But no proof was ever found and so the matter dropped from public attention.
Utility
WarDroids were used for combat, usually military engagements deemed too lethal for organics to participate in. Now when the odd WarDroid resurfaces, its usually in a mercenary or combat situation for a private owner.
Up to 50 million droid brothers were manufactured. Of those, 48 million were devastated in battle. The remainder of the series were decommissioned decommissioned as part of the expansive peace treaty between the Cores.
Decommissioning was nothing more than activating a 'kill' subroutine buried in their PROM memory. Their chassis were recycled into domestic appliances as a symbolic gesture to address the horrors of war.
But, because humanity's creations are no more perfect than humanity itself, a few WarDroids - less than a thousand - had a corruption in their PROM memory that prevented the 'kill' subroutine from ever functioning. These disappeared from public view and memory.
Currently, the Droidmongers don't offer WarDroids for sale as part of their droid catalog list. But a tiny fraction of the 50 million that were made can be occasionally tracked down through black market channels.
