Drachenkrone: The City of Steel

History and Overview
Founded in LN556 among the Reikan Mountains 2500 miles northeast of Ashimachi, Drachenkrone is built into a humongous mountain range and consists of four main cities: Drachenkrone itself, Kriegerruhe, Untermarkt, and Abgrundspitze. Each of these cities is overseen by an Order of the Tetrache (the Houses of Kings, Knights, Priests, and Wanderers). The House of Kings commands authority over the rest, their seat in the capital city of Drachenkrone being built into the highest mountain in the range and the central breeding grounds for the city-state’s fleet of dragons.   Each connected to the rest by an underground highway system, the main cities each command a certain aspect of civil society: the House of Knights’ properties, for instance, captain mining, metallurgy, and fabrication. Obviously this does not exclude the other cities from performing these tasks in their own territory.   Drachenkrone is #1 among the Eastern city-states in both geographical area and population. Famed for the export of Lichtstein, steel production, and an impressive standing military, Drachenkrone is one of only three city-states which boast the latter. Due to a lack of support in the Territories as a result of their secession from the Empire of Alman in LN 972 (beginning what is known as the Coast War), and with the Aufgehts River as its only readily accessible waterway, Drachenkrone trades primarily through Calava.   Drachenkrone’s official language and belief system both mirror the pre-conquest Almani religion - they are the last open worshippers of the Four, after the Winged Faith took hold in Alman following the fusion of the new Empire.   Of note: Abgrundspitze, or "Abyss Spire," is so named after a particularly ruinous accident by an elder sorcerer assigned to oversee the excavation of lower floors for new living quarters. As the work slowed because of particularly difficult to excavate granite, he opted to weave a grand sorcery to accelerate the work. In his haste, he failed to properly specify the scope of his work, merely weaving his magic to "remove the rock underneath the arcanum." It is a subject of much debate to this day whether the massive hole over which the arcanum is suspended is truly bottomless or not.
