Among the The Eastern City-States, the calendar year is referred to as LN (
Longnian; Dragon Year, celebrating the founding of
Wěitīng). There are 12 months in a calendar year, each with 32 days for a total of 384 days. The story takes place sometime during LN 1285.
The months are (in order left to right, top to bottom):
Rising Grass |
Rising Bloom |
Rising Leaf |
Soaring Grass |
Soaring Bloom |
Soaring Leaf |
Falling Grass |
Falling Bloom |
Falling Leaf |
Resting Grass |
Resting Bloom |
Resting Leaf |
Every fifth year ends with
Reflection, a period which lasts only 3 days and calibrates the calendar system (similar in concept to a Leap Year).
The denizens of the Coast also observe 8 days of the week:
Rìyōbi,
Yuèhōbi,
Huǒyōbi,
Shuǐyōbi,
Mùyōbi,
Jīnyōbi,
Tǔyōbi, and
Tiānhōbi.
This calendar structure is observed by every city-state on the Eastern Coast, translated into the local tongue.
