Elonath

Elonath sits under the ice sheets to the north of the Moonlit Expanse, just west of its center. Beneath a giant glacier, Tritons have hollowed out an enormous cavity, creating space for a city of well over ten thousand people thousands of feet below the surface. The occupants of the city make heavy use of the natural resources, maintaining a symbiotic relationship with the animals and plant life near their slowly drifting settlement as they use all they take and never take more than they need, feeding the wandering sea creatures and tending the plant life. Magic is viewed as a practicality here, mostly practiced without study by those in whom it naturally manifests or by those who gain it due to their ties to the natural world. It's common though nowhere near universal for citizens of Elonath to naturally develop a special bond with an undersea creature over the course of their life; this is not actively sought but merely a consequence of their close relationship to the natural world. Despite this, life in Elonath resembles life in many other cities, with businesses, densely-packed housing, small and well-traveled streets, and the like; it's just that you're exceedingly unlikely to see anyone but a Triton within. While Elonath isn't hostile to outsiders, its residents generally prefer to avoid getting tangled up in Coalition business; they've avoided it for this long and don't want the chance of getting tied into something on the surface world. It maintains a small standing army, though every member has another day job.
