Stillight Naval Base

Stillight is located near the western edge of the Moonlit Expanse, just east of its intersection with the Misty Reach. It's a rather sleepy place overall; most of its military occupants spend their days patrolling the waters for ships attempting to slip contraband or stolen goods the long way around to the more populous eastern cities. As this route is the most inconvenient smuggling route - not to mention the fact that hardly anyone smuggles things to the northern islands - Stillight's seamen are renowned among the other troops for their expertise in napping and birdwatching. The people stationed here tend to prefer describing it as having a life outside of work.
Some non-military personnel settle in Stillight, either to be with a member of the Navy or in order to remain close to friends or family elsewhere. As a result, it's got a decent mix of races mainly found in the north along with those common in the rest of the empire. There's also a small rock gnome tribe that's mostly integrated into the population of the base - the original residents of the island, unwillingly sharing their home but unable to effectively resist.
