Alchemist

Details

Alchemists seek to transmute reality to their will. Inspired by the mysterious capabilities of the Opus Stone, many Alchemist spend years carefully testing the Stone's powers of transmutation in search of the perfect formula to convert substances on the atomic level. They recognize the Stone's power of altering energy and perception as clear signs of its greater capabilities.   Few Alchemists share their knowledge with one another, it's more common to find a master and apprentice rather than a group. Because of this, society sees Alchemists as reclusive and unpredictable. More than once a rogue alchemist has caused havoc in the lower levels of a spaceport. But many who do consider themselves Alchemist consider their practice adjacent to their work. They incorporate their Alchemy into their fields of research in order to discover deeper truths that only the Stone can reveal. Still careful to keep this side work secret they carefully work in back rooms.

Enhanced Properties

Type: Physical, Effect, Action, Opus Stone
Careful study of the Opus Stone's transmutation revealed its material manipulation abilities.   As a reaction, you target a creature within 30ft that is being targeted by an attack. It receives one of the following effects during that attack.
Feature Effect
Brittle The attacker rolls an additional 1d6 when determining damage for the attack.
Durable The attacked creature reduces the damage being dealt to them by 1d6.
Reflective The attacker is dealt 1d4 of the same damage type they are dealing to the target.

Bad Mix

Type: Physical, Attack, Action, Opus Stone
After trial and error of hundreds of experiments, Alchemists soon realized that they could weaponize their failures.   As an Action, you target a creature that you can see within 60ft of you causing a surface near them to bubble and hiss. The reaction creates your choice of a puff of Toxic gas or a rush of acidic mist, Toxic damage or Acid damage.   Roll the Action Die + Alchemical Skill to determine the damage. The target must make an Immunity skill challenge against your damage total on a success they take half the damage you rolled.  

Metallic Cure

Type: Healing, Action, Opus Stone
In a bizarre discovery, it was revealed that the Stone has a unique reaction to certain metals.   As an Action, you vaporize a specific amount of metal. You then target a creature within reach of you and they receive the following benefits depending on the chosen metal. Each amount requirement is also on the table.
Rarity Example Required Amount Benefit
Common Iron, Cobalt 1 lb The target heals 1d4 hitpoints.
Uncommon Copper, Nickel 1/2 lb The target heals 1d6 hitpoints.
Rare Platinum, Silver 1/4 lb The target heals 1d8 hitpoints.
Very Rare Gold 1/8 lb The target heals 1d4 to an Ability Score of their choice.
