Equipment Rules

Nearly everywhere you go there will be some kind of merchant or marketplace ready for your money. It's possible to get anything in the largest markets, but if you're looking for something a little less than legal keep an eye out for the secret markets. Either way, you'll need to shop eventually. Spacefarers need to keep their eyes peeled for the right equipment. Sometimes a last-minute purchase can save someone's life. This page explains the need to know rules of equipment overall.

Equipment Types

Every piece of equipment has a Type Line with descriptive phrases that identify its characteristics. Certain abilities or actions care about these types so make sure to keep track of them. You can usually find the Type Line right under the name of the item.
Example:
Rocket Launcher [name]
Type: Weapon, Large, Ranged [Type Line]

You may also notice in some documents that equipment sometimes includes its type in its name such as "Ranged Weapon" or "Small Armor". These are generalizations meant to identify the types of equipment being asked for.
Lastly, equipment types are not the same as Action Types, there isn't any overlap.
