Naren

The story of the Naren begins with the story of their progenitor race; the Ul'soron. On the continent now known as Estrella (then known as Mirabelle) lived the Ul'soron. Their society lived under the rule of the Court of Miracles. This court was comprised of any individual who displayed a natural aptitude for magic. The Court was a collection of all magic users, no matter their powers, or their morality.   For centuries the land was in constant shift, all depending on the will of those in power. Eventually, the Court of Miracles saw it's numbers begin to dwindle. Concerned with their potential loss of power the Court underwent massive projects in hopes of regaining, and hopefully increasing their power.   To that end, the Court of Miracles began to recruit test subjects for their experiments. Promised safety, wealth, and the potential to join the court itself many volunteered. It became quickly apparent that those volunteers needed to be fortified against the battery of magic they were to endure. To that end, a particularly inventive courtier devised a series of procedures to strengthen a body against magic. It through those enchantments and mutations that the Naren were born.   Even with the new procedure, the Naren could not stand the battery of tests. Thousands were killed or made shells of their former selves. Word soon travelled, and the populace came to learn that the bargain the Court originally offered wasn't exactly what it seemed.   Desperate, the Court of Miracles turned to more nefarious means. Children would be bought from parents who didn't have the means to care for them. Hundreds would go missing while travelling the roads at night. Small villages would up and vanish entirely. The Court even had to devise a method of capturing those Naren that were lucky enough to flee their court. It was through this that the Cambistra, sibling race of the Naren, were created.   The Court of Miracle's ambition proved to be their downfall in the end. In their search for greater and greater power, they had created the tools of their downfall. Through the Naren they had perfected a race that was tailor-made to resist their magical. Combined with the martial prowess of the Cambistra, The Liberation was fought.   It has been over 300 years since the fall of the Court of Miracles. What was once the Ul'soron are now gone. What stands in their wake is the Naren and the Cambistra. The Naren themselves found themselves leading the efforts to rebuild and restructure their new society. It was from them that they developed a new language; a mix of old Mirabellian that the court forbade their Naren slaves to use, and the tongue they themselves developed. The newly christened nation of Estrella is formed from the singular nation of Naren. All Naren, regardless of blood ties, are bonded together to stop the corruption of power from ever harming innocent lives again.
