Vazika

Vazika is a game the developed in the nation of Shenadah. Referred to as Vazika, Five Fortress, or Mercenaries this game can be played by two to five players. The game is played on a pentagonal board with 1 six sided die, and four types of pieces; soldiers, rhinos, elephants, and walls.   A Vazika board is a five sided board divided into five equal triangles, each with it's own distinguishing colour typically. Within each triangle is a total of 15 spaces; 5 at the bottom, 4 above that, 3 above that, 2 above that, and 1 at the very top. Each player controls one coloured triangle.   At the beginning of the game, each player sits and rolls the die twice, adding the total of the two rolls together. This number is called the treasury, and is the starting "gold" each player begins with. After rolling the treasury, the player with the highest treasury selects which triangle they want to play from. After that, the player with the lowest treasury chooses which triangle they want to play from. This goes back and forth, the player with the highest treasury selecting, followed by the lowest, until all players have chosen their triangle.   From there, each turn is player order is organized from lowest treasury to highest. This order can change each round, as treasuries increase and decrease each round.   On a player's turn, they do four things.   1. Buy mercenaries using gold from their treasury. Soldiers cost 2, Rhinos cost 3, Elephants cost 5. You can only buy as many mercenaries as you can place on the middle three tiles in the back row of your board.   2. Build walls. If a Soldier, Rhino, or Elephant token is on a space on your triangle that borders another triangle directly, you may replace that piece with a wall token at the cost of 1 gold . You can do this as many times as you want, and or, can afford. You cannot build walls on enemy territory.   3. Move pieces. You can move three pieces of your choosing. Pieces can move in any direction. Soldiers move up to two spaces. Rhinos can move three spaces. Elephants can move one space. Walls cannot move. If during a movement, your piece crosses the space, or ends it's movement on the space of an enemy piece this will result in combat. Combat is decided by the following. Rhinos beat soldiers, soldiers beat elephants, elephants beat walls and rhinos, walls beat soldiers and rhinos. The contest is instantly decided upon contact, and the losing piece is removed. A piece cannot cross or enter the space of another one of your pieces.   4. Once all other steps are completed, the player rolls the dice once and adds the number to their total treasury.   After all players complete these actions, the round begins anew with the order being determined by the amount of gold in each treasury. If two or more players at tied for gold, the player with the least amount of pieces on the board goes first. If tied for that, the player with the least amount of walls goes first. If the problem still persists, the player order from the last turn can be used as reference; the earlier a player went last turn, the later in this turn they will go.   The end goal of the game is to line all of the outermost spaces of your triangle with walls. Furthermore, any walls built by a rival player along a border you both share counts as a wall for you both.
