The Golden Banner

Known for their larger than average fleet, they are the oldest Fleet shard still in operation, going back almost a century. They have shrunk and grown several times in that span, but are currently in a boom, thanks to their reputation as a faction of lawless renegades seeking fame and fortune. While this is true, the undercurrent is that of as many seedy and immoral dealings as any other pirate faction. The egotistical streak of many of the Golden Banner's captains leads to a great deal of public cruelty, as well as common striking against any valuables they can get their hands on.
Being the greatest threat to the Federation's order in the system, they are the greatest focus for their patrols. Skirmishes between High Navy and Golden Banner ships are common. Their unorthodox tactics and expert pilots allow smaller Banner squadrons to hold their own against better equipped, more experienced Navy crews.
They have several high profile strongholds within their territory, as well as hidden bases used for ambush and resupply of their members.
