The Seven Sinchildren

Structure

The Seven Sinchildren are a generally disconnected group of seven humanoid mortals whose souls are linked to one of seven sins associated with the selfishness and individualism the Sovereign, God of Selfishness, wishes to promote in mortals. While they have their own names given to them by their mortal parents, their souls also have names which are Sovereigntongue declarations about their nature. With the exception of Lust, all sinchildren, upon death, have their souls become wardens of the Underworld. Lust's exceptional nature is unknown even to the Sovereign; according to him, he simply fails to retrieve each Lust's soul upon death.   Sinchildren's duties are simple; using their natural sin-invoking auras, they corrupt fellow mortals, then kill them/lead them to their own premature demise, ensuring their soul reaches the Underworld and falls under their jurisdiction once they become a warden. This is, naturally, with the exception of Lust's kills; these souls have been wardenless and ungoverned in the Underworld since lust sinchildren were first conceived.   The seven sins are, in order of potential influence (least to greatest): Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. As of the year 551, the current sinchildren are:   Velzha (mortal name Jennifer): The first kogane sinchild, Velzha is uncharacteristically powerful for a lust sinchild, and for a time was a disturbingly efficient huntress of souls for her age. She has recently slowed her hunting under the tutelage of a fellow Yukishiman kogane, Hideki, and is training in Oukina Mori.   Mayza (mortal name Minun-Jun): A relatively young sinchild who has nevertheless wriggled his way into the Jaranese Jade Palace, personally serving the High Patriarch with his overly delicious, irresistible food. Ultimately, his powers don't force anybody to take excess amounts of his wonderful cookery, however; only the truly gluttonous shall eat themselves to death under his watch.   Vazaad (mortal name Bin-Garem): The second most rich trade prince in Nadibha, Vazaad has monopolised the fisheries of Nadibha and thus cornered an absolutely necessary domestic market, only being beaten out by his internationally spice-trading adversary, Trade Prince Al-Shassur. Between his work running his fishery monopoly he also has ventures in shoemaking, hotels, , and pottery, all of which are companies he's acquired from his former victims, who he's driven to folly with his green invocation.   Ma (mortal name Parvad): A Manabhuki pleasure house owner who entrances the slothful with promises of a pleasurable escape from their toiling lives, keeping them lost in his indulgences until they find themselves unable to leave. Once they spend all they have and render themselves unsustainable, they are tossed into the streets of Azimdad to die, destitute and condemned to the Underworld.   Sarcet (mortal name Komekk Axol): Prince to the Elective Kingdom of Arkhera, Sarcet doesn't actually know he's a sinchild yet, only that he enjoys making people want to fight him to the death, and that his voluntary role as Royal Executioner, wherein he riles up the wronged and the sentenced all at once, speaks to him much more than any role in true politics.   Karvu (mortal name Myrtle Gemcutter): Another Arkheran, this time the hyper competent bastard daughter of Lady Marissa Gemfire. She naturally invokes envy and resentment wherever she goes; her beauty aggravates girls her age, the presence of her father in her life aggravates her fellow bastard sibling, Amerei, her stepping into the political arena and proving ten times as competent as her mother breeds resentment in Lady Gemfire, and her choice to have a lover has enraged her countless adoring 'fans', teenaged boys not lucky enough to be noticed. She hasn't accepted her sinchild identity yet, but has inadvertently harvested many souls.   Darvith (mortal name Luxifros): The eldest of any sinchild in history, Darvith is currently a great ascendant conglomerate ruling over Sula as an immortal god-king. His immortal state is insulting to the Sovereign, and though he holds countless prideful ascendants in his thrall and fully intends to, upon finally being killed, bring all the souls he's composed of with him to the Underworld, he is generally considered a deeply offensive sinchild even to his own soul-father.

Culture

Generally speaking, the Sovereign fosters independence and freedom in his children, allowing them to pursue their soul-ensnaring in a manner that suits them (albeit they need to provide a steady stream of souls). There are, however, limits to his leniency; for example, he holds his eldest son, Darvith, in contempt, for taking the 'abominable' liberty of ascending into a bodily, immortal being to ensnare souls in a prolonged thrall within the living realm.
