Weil of Zemelnya

Weil

An impoverished patrician who currently exists on the run as part of a foreign-backed revolution in Nortez, Weil's short life is nothing short of chaotic. Of course, this fits his arcane skill set; he, through his father's line, has the ability to speak to the Rakh'vash, the Living Entropy and Lord of Chaos.   His mother, Anastazya, coddled him as a child while his father, Ivan, grew rich from instructing Ilazari in how to divine the will of the dark four gods, chiefly the Rakh'vash. He was groomed by Ivan to be a powerful chaos-speaker just like him, and while his personal manifestation of the Rakh'vash was indeed strong, it was also aggressive and willful, leading to him having a poor control of the beastly god despite his fluency in Chaostongue.   One day, his mother left for groceries, but never returned. Ivan investigated the issue, and found that Anastazya was caught in the crossfire of a skirmish between two lower-level crime families, the Isleborn Muranovs and the Plague Emperor's Subjects, both fighting for a sliver of Yahontov territory she had tragically assumed was neutral ground. Weil, distraught over his mother's death, grew to despise both sides of the Isleborn-Plagueborn conflict, while Ivan continued to obsess over his work, tapping into powers from the most ancient of the dark gods, Dolora, the Primordial Darkness, Time's Infinite Regress. This steadily drove Ivan mad, leaving Weil's life more isolated and hopeless than ever.   Life briefly picked up for Weil when he found out that both of the families responsible for the death of his mother had been exterminated by the old-blooded, established crime family known as the Kasparovs. This gave him a grudging respect for the family, and when Ivan grew sickly, he immediately trusted them for medical loans. Personally approaching Anya Kasparov at her lending office, Kasparov Financial Solutions Limited, he borrowed thousands of Ilazari credits to pay for a treatment he hoped would be relatively cheap but effective: Essential oils peddled by the Plagueborn cryomancer, Vi'khash.   He would continue to borrow, mounting his monthly debt up to the point where his regular job as a librarian wouldn't cut it. He would use his powers to summon daemons by the Sudovkyly cliffs, dropping them into the ocean to ravage ships he hoped were piratical. He would then scavenge the wrecks for treasure and acquire money from pawn shops. When he discovered this job was more lucrative than any librarian position, he turned his attention to this monstrous practice full time, all while paying through the nose to ease Anya Kasparov's steadily tightening grip and Vi'khash's completely ineffectual treatment.   One visit from Anya resulted in the unexpected; an unwashed, maddened foreign illusionist named Razarkha Fel'thuz appeared in his living room. She demanded to be bathed and then fell unconscious, and Weil, utterly averse to conflict, obliged this entitled request. In accepting this, he came to hear of her plight as an exile, while she heard his plight as a perpetually indebted individual, directly calling out Vi'khash as a fraud to his deaf ears.   Together, they concocted a scheme to dethrone the Kasparovs and claim the treasure their patriarch, Elki, used to intimidate the masses, the Soulstealer of Craving. They acquired information that proved soulstealers were far less powerful than most believed, but this unfortunately led to the most recent tragedy of Weil's life. He left to acquire yet more treasures, only to return to find Ivan smothered, Vi'khash burnt to death, and an unknown assassin with a knife in his back. Razarkha, the only survivor, explained that the assassin killed his father and healer, which he quickly pinned on Anya Kasparov.   Following this, Anya visited for her monthly collection, and was promptly killed by an enraged, chaos-fueled Weil, but of course, the young woman was resourceful, and instead of dying became an ascendant. Weil considers her to be the murderer of his father, and thus will not rest until she is dead. Later, he assisted Razarkha in every conceivable way, facilitating her challenge of Elki Kasparov to an honour duel, ultimately culminating in her acquisition of the Soulstealer of Craving.   Since then, he and Razarkha have sailed to Nortez, and though they were to land in Quattrus, they have last been seen wreaking havoc in Pentatum, Weil's tentacles tearing apart the Membrane between the outer and inner districts of the megalopolis. From there, they entered a portal to Nortez's capital, Hextolis, and who knows where he is and what he's up to...

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Weil is slightly overweight for a spellbinder, and wears his hair styled with two curtain-like fringes either side of his eyes. He opts against face paint and lipstick, but makes up for it with his outfit.   When in Ilazar, Weil wore red and black long coats with brass, tentacle themed pauldrons. However since reaching Nortez he has adopted a simple white and gold Pentatum robe to blend in.

Religious Views

Weil is a strong proponent of Ilazari maltheism, what with being a chaos-speaker who is intimately familiar with the Dark Four. He believes that chaos, rampant individualism, death and even time's unavoidable regress are all extremely important in the mortal plane, though he was willing to compromise on these values in his desperation to save his dying father.
