Spiralin Algae

Spiralin algae is much larger than other varieties. It grows from a central stalk anchored underwater, and develops pouches of air pockets for buoyancy. The surface structure is most commonly green and blue, and includes photosynthetic organs which take in small amounts of light overtime to feed the aquatic plant.
This algae is one of the ingrediants commonly used to produce Potions of Water Breathing. It takes 5 lbs of unprocessed algae, along with select other ingredients, to produce one dose of the potion.
It grows best in still water, and doesn't survive in water with a steady current, frequent disruptions from natural fauna, or a high level of salinity. For this reason it thrives in small ponds and some swamps that aren't overly salinated.
