Suzume

Physical Description

Suzume are yokai spirits that embody avians. In their natural form they greatly resemble lithe humans, standing just between 5 and 6 feet tall on average and weighing between 100 and 200 pounds. Unlike the humans they resemble, suzume develop black splotches in various places around their faces. The patterns vary between individuals, but these splotches appear most often around the eyes, chin, and down their necks. Suzume also have black tongues, extremely fair colored skin, and almost always fair colored eyes. Suzume have the ability to transform their bodies into different types of birds for limited periods of time, the appearance of which depends on the type of suzume.

Society

Suzume are cheerful, friendly, and social by nature. They love to meet and play with others, and are often open and trusting to a fault. They tend to live with their families within settlements of other yokai, but rarely in settlements composed entirely of Suzume as well.

Naming Conventions

Suzume refer to each other by the songs they are most known for. When adopting a name for themselves that non-Suzume can use, they often use the type of song or a description of that song.
