Lorizo-Agallo

Lorizo and Agallo, princes of the kingdom of Dalen, did not always see eye to eye. What made matters worse is that they were twelfth and thirteenth in line to the throne, and were soon to be made lower than that. Their eldest sister - set to become queen - was about to give birth, which meant they would fall even lower on the pecking order. Although they rarely agreed on much, they did decide between the two of them that they needed to marry powerful women if they were ever to amount to anything. Luckily, they thought, they were quite handsome and their kingdom was wealthy, so even though they had no chances of ruling all of Dalen, they would each be presented with Dukedoms with a sizable plot of land on which to rule. They began exploring the lineage books, looking for women who had money and power, but not too much of the latter.   Lorizo eventually found an elven noblewoman, Noem, whose family was willing to marry her off. This was highly unusual, as elves very rarely married outside of their own kind. Although Lorizo knew she did not have much money or court power, he knew she would gain both simply by being an elf marrying a human. He agreed, and they were wed. She was quiet and unassuming and rarely spoke to him, which he didn't mind.   Agallo was no so lucky, and jealous of his brother's ability to find a suitable bride, he decided it would be better to marry quickly rather than wait for the perfect bride. At least then his brother couldn't boast that he was married and Agallo was not. So he scoured his Dukedom for a wife, and found a young girl, not yet sixteen, who was considered a beauty. Although she was only the daughter of a merchant, he agreed that her beauty was unusual for one of her class, and agreed to marry her. He visited Lorizo to show off his bride, and introduced her as Sapiro.   They ate together, and bragged about their wives to one another. It was becoming clear that Lorizo was jealous of Agallo's wife, and he of hers. It is at this moment that the duel, known colloquially as the LA, began. Sapiro, naive and young as she was, had been admiring a candelabra. She spoke up and commended Lorizo for his decorative choices, to which he became very smug. He laughed and laughed and laughed, when suddenly Agallo stood up, brandished the candelabra, and hit Lorizo with it. They began to fight with anything nearby, and Agallo declared it to be a duel, requesting that the winner get both wives. Lorizo agreed, and the servants watched in fear as the brothers fought.   Hours of fighting and loss of blood on both sides, the brothers realised they were both going to die. Lorizo pleaded with his wife, Noem, to use some elvish power to restore him. She looked over in disgust, turned to Sapiro, and smiled. They both stood up, and before walking out of the room, castle, and this bizarre scene, Sapiro picked up the bloodied candelabra.   No search was conducted, as the brothers were not deemed important enough. As for Noem and Sapiro? It is said that they were seen making their way north, but where they were heading was anyone's guess.   Candelabras are now widely used to declare duels.
