The Spire Defense Network

A technology lost to the ages was the Spire Defense Network. It creates a world sized shield that protects the world from hostile invaders of other planes. It was created in early history after the ancient civilization that lived on The World Spire saved Seiðrheim from the brink of destruction due to a massive demon invasion.

The defense network operates by taking magical power from each of the 9 spires and combining into The World Spire which emits the shield. The defense network utilizes large veins of Sidverite to power the shield, the Sidverite located in each of the spires is the purest form of it that exists. When the defense network is fully shut off each spire must be manually turned back on, starting with The World Spire.

Each of the 9 spires is home to one of the races of dragons, because the technology is so old it is unlikely that the dragons know how it works or even that it exists. There is still one standing library near the summit of The World Spire and it might just contain enough information for someone to piece together how this technology works and how to fix whatever is broken.

Recently this defense network has gone offline and since the ancient civilization no longer exists the inhabitants of Seiðrheim must find a way to start it back up before another invasion takes place. Gannum, Champion of the Silver has created a recent stained glass piece depicting the destruction of Seiðrheim, but he does not know why that future exists.
