Meksiehgd's Shadows

Followers of Uneism believe that the dark god Meksiehgd still lives within the world and is constantly attempting to derail Scale's quest to unite the essences. In order to impede Scale's journey, Meksiehgd has devised several tricks to divert his attention. One of the most famous techniques within Uneism is Meksiehgd's Shadows.
Part of Scale's journey involves combating Meksiehgd. Defeating him and gathering the essences are tandem quests and as such, at times, Scale will seek out Meksiehgd in order to temporarily contain him. While Scale collects the essences, Meksiehgd scatters the essences so trapping him, even for a little while, is extremely important to his task.
In order to confuse Scale, Meksiehgd creates copies of himself, separating his marker into various parts. These are sentient and able to move through the world. Scale can sense Meksiehgd, but these give off the same astral signal due to the divided marker.
These copies disappear when Scale seals them and that is the only time he knows that they are not the real Meksiehgd.
While they are in the world, they are visible to humans and those who practice Uneism have sometimes claimed to see them when the sun or moon is brightest, the time when the light essence is enough to resonate with the void essence concentrated within his marker.
