Navaford

Navaford is the main trading center of Yzel. Merchants of all walks of life have at least one stall in the main market. Both Eoin and Yzelian are commonly spoken. Unlike other regions of Yzel, people from Eoion  are more welcomed in the city as the citizens have become more used to seeing them as merchants and productive people rather than residents of an enemy state.

Ahyet

The central market is an open air location spread out over one half square kilometer at the center of town. Several of the continent's wealthiest merchants and largest commercial groups had permanent stalls there. One third of the locations in Ahyet are decided on each year by raffle. Those who win are given the space for a span of one year. Those who do not are still permitted to sell elsewhere in the city. When it rains, a large tent is set up while air and liquid esh keep the rain at bay until the canvas is fully assembled. When the tent is open, there are no warm food stalls as the fires are a danger to the canvas.

Gehn Garrison

Named after the general responsible for Yzel's victory in the Sicru Battles, this military outpost is stationed at the northern end of the city and the soldiers there assist in escorting merchants to and from the market. They are also responsible for policing the town at large.The Garrison is a recent addition to the town, built only 100 years ago. Before this point, soldiers would life in various buildings inside and outside of the city. Those who guard the city are very adept at customs work and are the most skilled workers in such a role outside of Leowit due to their semi-regular interactions with attempted fraud and counterfeit goods.

Defences

The city is mainly defended by the soldiers stationed in the Gehn Garrison. There are only three routes into the city and these are patrolled at all times by soldiers who work in three shifts. In the event of an attack, the entrances become a bottleneck and large gates are closed, held shut by enormous iron bars.

Industry & Trade

As a central trade city, Navaford boats a great deal of differing goods. Their most famous commodities are jackets. These are often Eoin inspired designs using the dying and sewing techniques of Yzel. The result is generally long, with bell sleeves and decorated in deep, saturated colors. Navaford is the only place in Seleim where such clothing is seen and the jackets are a curiosity for the two countries.

Architecture

Outdoor marketplaces are extremely common. Aside from Ahyet, there are many smaller such places scattered throughout the city. Only the permanent and wealthy have stores in buildings. Depending on the industry represented, the buildings can be decorated very differently. Often, decorated arches are seen, with deep colors painted on them. Roofs tend to be either slightly sloped for standard buildings or dome shaped for those looking to stand out. Sapphire blue is a common color for businesses due to its association with wealth. Columns are also popular and are generally decorative rather than structural, with wildflowers and geometric shapes carved into them.
