Government
The county in which Sariiga sits is ruled by a vice duke whose family originally came from the old country of Ulena. This family bowed to Ilya Shiroko during the initial conquest and was given territory as a result.
However, the town itself is run by a local mayoral family, with advisors from the magical and trade communities.
Industry & Trade
Most income for the town comes from a combination of tourism and textiles. While the mountains are famous for their gold and silver industry, Sariiga became one of the main places in the region for fabric, particularly pieces with gold and silver thread woven into it. Their tourism takes advantage of the natural wonders to draw in tourists who prefer a getaway far from the busy cities.
Infrastructure
Sariiga is famous for its location nestled in the mountains around it. While the mountains have been the site of territorial conflict, Sariiga has flourished as a hidden gem. As the most popular location in the area, it boasts a beautiful connection with nature.
High bridges connect the nearby peaks to one another and allow for easy travel between them. Waterfalls have become integrated into the town as well with homes and businesses using the running water for power and their beauty.
Tourism
Sariiga became a popular honeymoon destination for those who want to experience the empire away from the cities. The area has become even more famous in the last few years after the emperor,
Taras Shiroko, and his husband,
Erasure, spent their honeymoon there.
- Summer palace: Construction began under Empress Inna Shiroko I and continued into the reign of her daughter and successor, Olha II. In total, the expansive palace took thirty years to build and sits just to the west of the city limits, high enough that the western ocean can be seen from its highest towers.
- Mountain resorts: Three resorts of varying sizes can be found on the outskirts of Sariiga. They were constructed there in order to give the guests privacy and to allow for their construction to take over large areas without being constrained by the city itself.
