Waves Research Institute
The Waves Research Institute is a branch of Yzel's government structure, although it has no political power. The institute was formed due to Yzel's strong connection to the sea and the need to enhance their ability to perform and maintain as much control of it as possible.
At first, the institute was an independent organization loosely mostly composed of Hydr-esh and sailors interested in learning about currents. However, as they continued their work, they discovered a particular phenomenon that occurred once every ten years along the eastern coast of Yzel, near Padenet. During this time, the waves suddenly change direction, moving from their specific current of a north-south direction to a south-north route.
The mechanism or reason for the switch has yet to be determined, but led to the loose collection of researchers coming together in a far more organized fashion. While they continued to amass data, they also began investigating waves and patterns in general, expanding into mapping large and miniscule areas of the Circle Sea.
In 538, the organization was invited to join the larger research groups working under the Yzelian government and accepted. This led to their official designation as the Waves Research Institute.
Since then, they have worked within their home nation and with their neighboring country, Eoion, to better understand the ocean around them. However, they do not share much information with the Eoins as they prefer to keep Yzel's superiority in sea travel. This has led to some tension between the research groups in each government, but overall, the Institute is a well respected body on the continent.
