The words of Yclarta

Yclartas' main language is the common language of Senmir. However, they tend to have sayings specific to their town. The sayings can be odd and take awhile for strangers visiting to get used to. If someone visiting Yclarata wants to fit in quickly they should grasp a few of the simple phrases used by the native townsfolk. Otherwise they will "stick out like pinholes." Since Yclarta is most known for its' pottery and farming their most colorful sayings come from these two types of work.   The Yclartans way of speaking is straight forward and simple. Originally this meant that stories coming out of Yclarta were short and to the point. For example and old Yclartan story warning of the dangers of the Flaxen Fields would go something like this. A person went in to the Flaxen Fields with no plan or course of action. The became lost and could not find their way back. Do not go into the Flaxen Fields unprepared or you will not make it back.   They were not considered very entertaining, but bland. It wasn't until bards started traveling to Yclarta that the people were exposed to longer stories. Yclartans were so enraptured by this other form of story telling that they eventually adopted it into their stories. Yclartan stories were more exciting after that, but this "longer" form of storytelling is usually saved for the story festival held during the Winter.
