Swiftminster

Swiftminster was a small farming village in Alfaya that was completely destroyed in a raid by a rival nation. A small portion Afayan Cavalry was called to rout the enemy, but their Knight Captain Kalon Palanin did not get the message, as he was off tending to his sick grandmother. The threat turned out to be larger than expected, and nearly all the civilians were either captured or killed. Kalon arrived just in time to watch someone crawl out of a burning farmhouse, dying in his arms shortly before the barn burned down completely. A surviving knight buried the bodies, and the town was left untouched afterward, having been practically erased off the map. When peace was finally achieved and the people avenged, the ruins of Swiftminster were cleaned up and replaced with a new settlement that would be led by Kalon's son Eric. There is, however, a memorial where the old barn once stood.

Demographics

Almost all of Swiftminster's residents were farmers or part of a family that dealt with agricultural products, with exactly two full-time fishers: one man and one woman.

Government

A small direct democracy within a feudal state

Defences

There were wooden picket fences surrounding the chicken pens. Pitchforks were hidden in the farmhouse

Industry & Trade

The residents got by mostly with farming and fishing. Three of their biggest exports were fish, grains, and chickens.

Infrastructure

There was a watermill that helped grind wheat into flour. Roads were minimal and made of dirt if they were at all.

Assets

Fields for wheat growing and poultry raising, a regularly flowing river

History

The ruins were left untouched for many years until after the war, Kalon Palanin's son, Eric would start it anew under the name of Whitemorrow.

Points of interest

The town's most prominent feature was a large farmhouse in the middle of town where eggs and grain were stored.

Architecture

Simple wooden structures

Geography

Most of the village is located on a plain, with a small tributary flowing in the northwest.

Natural Resources

Poultry, grain, fish, water

It would be interesting to see an article on Whitemorrow - to see whether the residents of the new settlement learned anything from the fate of the old one. "The war" may be over, but history tells us that the next one is inevitable.   Did the old town have any secrets that might still be discoverable? This is another interesting question that comes to my mind (the mind of a long-time RPG campaign designer).   Nice work... and I'm guessing you had lots of chance to hook other summercamp articles into this one.
