The Furnace

The area around ptema has many volcanoes on land and underwater. The furnace resides in an old dormant volcano in the center of the region. The crater is filled with with amber metal, making it almost indistinguishable from an actual volcano save for the lack of heat and steam. it is uncertain how long the kiln has been there as it was discovered after the mother.
Locals used to make sacrifices of livestock into the volcanoes in the region, but when a volcano would become dormant, they would move to another active volcano. This was the assumed reason why no one had visited the volcano in generations.
a farmer discovered it after following some of his yemi had escaped and scaled the peak. He noticed the coolness of the metal on top and when he stuck his cane into it and nothing was damaged, he tried with some rags. when they floated on top he bravely dipped his foot into it. He tested his luck as the edge had crumbled and he fell into the metal. Luckily, he was not harmed and was gifted in the process.
The farmer hadn’t noticed anything different until his partner had noticed his back. The local herbalist didn’t know what to do but seafarers who stopped on a journey had informed the next town’s leaders about the mother and the gift they had bestowed to some people. This was disregarded as hearsay but the herbalist figured this was a related event. and since this condition was definitely curable by medicine or tinctures, they recommended him to rest and take it easy if he chose to explore this metal’s abilities.
The farmer led others to the furnace and thus began the first pilgramage to this kiln.
