The Heart
Deep in the center of Wistym, the floating kiln of red metal resides. Surrounded by a sprawling city that grew in the centuries since its appearance, it is located near the royal palace. The legend tells that the death of the beloved king, Jorys Third, was the catalyst for the kiln to appear.
On the night of his death, the city gathered at the base of palaces steps to mourn for their leader. His Daughter, Ryvi, would succeed him and she wore the family mourning colour of red at the procession. The city echoed with sobs as the body was toured as per tradition. A hum from the sky told something unusual was afoot.
By the time the procession was circling back towards the palace, behind the old city wall a giant structure, the size of the palace was emerging from the earth. The shape was familiar to those who had seen it, the heart. It poured a liquid the colour of blood that fell to the hole it had created with its emergence. The people said the gods were as sad that Jorys had left the world and they sent the people a reminder of his heart.
Ryvi had went to the kiln with her royal guard to inspect. It towered over, floating above the land. She knew they would never scale it. One of her knights had touched the liquid metal with their sword and the metal had avoided contact. It moved around the sword as he thrust it into the pool. She placed her hand into the pool and she felt it connect to her. Against her guards protests, she climbed into the liquid and found she floated. A tingling sensation climbed up her back as the metal adhered to her. The heartbreak and loss of her father felt a little better. Hesitations she has about the monolithic structure subsided as she lay in the metal. She would have the greatest minds in the city to explore the kiln and its metal to understand its purpose. Initially the kiln was only available to royal appointees but eventually it was turned into a public area with beautiful guardens surrounding it in honour of Jorys
