Personal history

Arthur LeMurian was born in Gormate, in the year 178, to parents Salvadore and Maria LeMurian. When he was 6 years old, Arthur's parents were convinced by the crown prince in their region to strike out for Ranthasha and make a name for themselves, since it would bring not only wealth but fame and prestige to them. A week after they received this letter, they boarded a traveling vessel, and set sail for the port city of Phylasia.   While on this voyage, Arthur began to "wake up" and realize the world for what it truly was, a place of pain; he recognized that this pain was neither good, nor bad, but rather a force, a thing that merely exists without morals. Those who praise the likes of Arthur (henceforth referred to as "LeMurian") often deem this as his "first thought" and from this, everything else he did was enshrined in legend.   He began to help the diseased and injured on the ship as much as he could, but ultimately, he could not help many of them. He did take the time to correspond with the ship's surgeon, and eventually, a deal was made with his parents, and LeMurian was allowed to shadow the ship's surgeon, to understand how to heal people without a designated cleric.   When LeMurian was 18, he was allowed to leave the employ of his mentor, and he brought with him, all over Ranthasha, his knowledge of anatomy, psychology, and physiology.   The record goes a bit cold from this point. It is assumed that he just acted as a doctor as the surgeon was. The historical record picks back up in 218 when it is known for certain that he founded the town and the school.

Education

Arthur LeMurian is often credited with bringing "modern" medicine into being and famously shunned the use of the gods' handiwork to heal people. He was educated as most doctors were at the time, through apprenticeship, shadowing another doctor, and learning from them along the way.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Arthur founded the township of LeMurian in 218 under the reign of Queen Ekaterina of the newly formed confederation of Bandhorian states (later called just Bandhor), and he drew in many men of science and medicine. Not long after, he helped to build the school that would bear his name.

Morality & Philosophy

Arthur was a pioneer of profane medicine, and he wrote many pamphlets and treatises on the subject. His love of not just philosophical, but also theological debate, led him to dedicate a wing of the school specifically for discussion and the expansion of one's thoughts.   One of his most essential philosophies was the idea that pain and harm were not strictly evil and that even things that help you now, could be harmful to you years down the line. This line of thinking is and was an extension of the idea of karma, but since his lectures about such an idea, public attention has become more broad about it.   Naturally, this idea was a hot topic among scholars at the time, since these thoughts came in the middle of the War of St. Armond, but once the war was over, and many of the demons were driven back into the Abyss, many doctors began to latch onto the idea that harm was merely an extension of life and that to expect one without the other was to live in a world that didn't exist.
