Salazim
Salazim is one of the two major cities in Bandhor.
Demographics
While the many normal races, such as humans, tieflings, dwarves, and halflings, inhabit the city, there is a surprisingly dense population of Hobgoblins and Firbolgs.
Government
Salazim is run under the thumb of the Bandhorian Empire, but since it is on the edge of the empire, it holds enough of its own consolidated power to effectively be run as a city-state. It still pays a portion of its taxes to the Crown, but it is not subject to the same tax percentage.
Salazim's preferred style of government is an oligarchy, which is ruled by a council called "The Collective" which contains the city's most prominent members. Of course, some families hold most of the sway over the council, but there are a few merchants and artisans on the council that have earned their spot.
Defences
High walls surround the outermost layer of the city, with an active guard patrolling the walls at all times.
Industry & Trade
Simply put, Salazim sits almost directly in the continent's center, making it a great hub when traveling to different cities or enjoying Salazim's many wonders. Salazim is also known for its Warforged market. Many inventors and artificers come to Salazim to provide their own models and signature additions to warforged, making them individually valuable by a significant margin. Usually, only the incredibly wealthy, or the magically powerful have Warforged, but after their deaths, the warforged is released from its bondage and gains its own freedom.
Infrastructure
Salazim has doubled its waste sewer as a storm sewer, effectively preventing the few floods that would face it.
Districts
Guild Lane
Guild houses line the street up and down. Many guild houses are open to the public for joining.House Royal
House Royal is the name of the sequestered area of the city set aside for the prince and the royal family. It is open to the public on weekends, but strictly inaccessible during the working days.
Guilds and Factions
Wolves of Vey
The Wolves of Vey is a paramilitary group based in the city of Salazim, though they operate outside of their sphere of influence. They are skilled in both skirmish battles, and light espionage. Their leader, Vey Lethamp, a halfling who was once a member of the Drivellian military, is the head of this faction and oversees many of the operations they find themselves in.
Architecture
Mudbrick and sandstone are used in the city to make towering buildings that have stood for centuries.
Geography
Salazim sits on the outer edge of the Garrash desert,
Climate
Few storms ever make their way to Salazim, but those that do can be catastrophic.
