The aarakocra, also known as birdfolk, are avian humanoids who are native to the Dunes of Kemet. They are strong fliers and capable warriors.
they are bird-like humanoids with feathers and a beak. Their hands have three fingers and a thumb, and they also have a pair of feathered wings. Aarakocra have lean legs ending in talons. usually standing over 5 feet their lightweight bodies typically weigh between 30 - 50kg.
Led by Atem Ra they rule the North of Kemet with power and prosperity. They are forever at odds with the Khenra of Southern Kemet where the two races have a shakey truce to prevent further bloodshed in the region.
Aarakocra colonies of the known world are usually built around their powerful leaders who they refer to as Pharaohs. Pharaohs tend to be the eldest and strongest aarakocra who tend to lead the colony with the support of a Sharman who is typically the second oldest member of the community. These Tribal groups may have up to 30 individuals. with the largest colonies having over a few thousand.
Aarakocra tribes are divided among gender lines: males hunt, while females craft weapons and tools, such as javelins, from stone and wood. Their settlements have a hunting territory of up to 100 miles on a side, and their prey may include livestock or other indigenous creatures to the dunes. A tribe marks its hunting territory with colorful banners and pennants, with each tribe having a unique design.
Aarakocra females engaged in incubating eggs may use both hands and both talons to weave vines and feathers into boundary pennants, sheaths for javelins, and other useful objects. When encountered away from tribes, aarakocra are usually solitary or found in flights of three to six individuals.
