Hale
Encircled in a high wall of stone, Hale is the capital city of Odessa. There are nine districts in Hale: the Palace District, the Silver District, the Temple District, the Sky District, Oldtown, the Summer District, the Shield District, the Rose District, and the Moon District.
The Palace District holds the palace from which the Empress rules her country. Minor nobles live in surrounding estates each with plenty of land inside the walls of the city. Servants mill about this District performing their duties while the nobles attend to their own business, which can commonly include backstabbing and underhanded deals in order to undermine their fellow nobles or simply gain favor with the Empress.
The Silver District is where higher-end merchants set up their shops. Richer citizens can roam about this District without fear of thieves and pickpockets with the heavy presence of the city guard here.
The Temple District holds the largest temple in all of Hale. The High Seer resides in this temple where she and her acolytes give council to those who need guidance. While anyone is invited to worship in this temple, it is generally known that those of a lower class attend temples closer to their home District.
The Sky District is home to the richest of citizens of Hale with no noble background. While their homes do not compare to the estates in the Palace District, they are still much more luxurious than other Districts.
Oldtown is the oldest part of Hale. It was built before all the other Districts and even the great stone wall itself. Many of the homes here are owned by families whose ancestors lived there before the rest of the city was constructed.
The Summer District is a large open area filled with trees and ponds where small wildlife scurry about to the enjoyment of the children that play there. It is common for people of all economic classes to be found here enjoying a break from the stresses of life.
The Shield District holds the Armor Academy. Students in this academy learn the Odessan ways of combat. Graduates will become city guards or will be a part of the Royal Army.
The Rose District is where most of the middle-class citizens reside. People who live here are typically laborers or merchants. They enjoy a decent life, though they are sure to lock their doors at night when people with questionable intent are known to skulk around the shadows.
The Moon District is known to be the most dangerous to find yourself in. Residents here are of the low class, and the District itself is run by rival gangs of criminals. It is not known by many, but the main entrance to Darktown can be found in the old cemetery in this District. Darktown is rumored to extend underneath the entire city of Hale, and is home to the poorest of the poor. Though who could say what lies in its darkest depths?
