Alcohol & Economics - Something Dangerous - Part 7

“Michael dispatched two angels to the Inn, twelve hours ago.” Lucifer reported, unfazed by his master’s bed-ragged appearance. They’d been up for sixty eight hours, almost two days by Hell’s time, just trying to sort out the sudden shift in Threads of Fate. He’d actually been on his way back from a coffee run when he’d heard the rumor. Upon a call to his little sister, Etna had proved the information sound: two new angels were to be around Deceit on a daily basis.

“Wonderful,” Osiris growled, taking a long drag from his cigarette. “Have you popped in on her to take stock of the situation?”

“No.” Lucifer grit his teeth, running his hand through short, spiked dark green hair.

“Do it.” Osiris commanded, stacking up the paperwork that surrounded him. “First Héh got involved with that girl, and now that Ra has shown an interest we can no longer just write it off to Héh’s womanizing tendencies.”

“Yes sir,” Lucifer bowed and took his leave, slamming the door a little bit more forcefully than necessary. ‘Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck. Fuck him. Why does he always give me the jobs I’d rather someone incompetent, like Satan, do. Like run for coffee, or visit family I wrote off long ago. Mother fucker.’ Lucifer’s inner rant did nothing to quell his temper, and he promptly gave up in favor of coming up with a valid excuse to show up at his niece’s without the subject of family surfacing.

He’d done his best to cut ties with all of his family, with the exception of his dear baby sister, and Lucifer was determined not to let Osiris win. Deceit and Merci would be kept in the dark about their relation to the dæmon for as long as possible. Possibly forever, if he had any say in the matter.
