FFM26: Taking Initiative

Hope did not believe in a higher power, at least not the way that other angels did. To her, everyone had to go somewhere, and no one was without someone above them to tell them what to do. Perhaps, it never occurred to her that the god she had loved so dearly, so humanly, had checked out to the pool of reincarnation well before her line ever started. Or perhaps the other gods left to rule just had a sense of working, without her able to see.

Hope wasn't sure of the details. She did not pride herself on memorizing everyone's name, their birthdays, their religion flavor of choice. To her, it was all the same. The process would be the same for everyone who passed, and she would always be the one stuck with Wanderers. The kind of people that don't believe in anything solid, concrete.

In a way, she was the one to put on Death's robe, to be a reaper for someone who didn't believe in anything. Hope loved that part of her job, really, she did.

And then, just like that, it was taken from her. Hope was not a fan of people taking things from her. She fought back, and it wasn't a clean fight. Fights between family always ended in blood, and she would shed as much as she had to, if only to get her task back.
