Tonth
"No one talks of them, not much anymore." Etna frowned, her voice soft in something akin to mourning. "They were once a proud people, forced to band together for no other reason than their parentage."
"I don't understand."
"You understand that the people of our line, the Lereris cannot mix with those of another major line, such as the Nalmor, without violating the laws of our people, right?"
"Because their children would be a different species."
"Right, well, once, that was only frowned upon - not illegal. Those children became known as the Tonth, or those that are sullied."
"Oh. Why aren't they around anymore?"
"There was a point where the people of Tonth became many, many more than those of the pure blood races." Etna paused for a moment, setting her tea cup down with slow deliberation. "Why do you need to know of this, again?"
"School project." Seven year old Deceit leaned her head against the side of the couch, her tea untouched. "Don't stop now."
"Alright, well." Etna gave a small, forced smile. "Just don't tell your teachers about this part- they might be a bit upset with me for it. t's a bit of history that's been written out." She paused again. "The Evore Council held a closed door session without the Tonth races in confidence. " Etna made a face. "Lots of talks happened, and it boiled down to the pure bloods choosing to do away with those mixed instead of actually addressing their population problems."
"Do away?"
"Mass executions. Genocide."
"...Oh."
