“You did something stupid, didn’t you.” Newt guessed, one hand firmly placed on each of the girl’s shoulders as he turned her around and directed her right back towards the kitchen.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She lied, attempting and failing to move in any other direction than the one she was going. Merci just wanted to get back to her room, her plants and varying levels of dangerous chemicals. There she could forget about before and maybe, just maybe, Deceit wouldn’t find out.

“She already knows, you know.” Newt said off hand, giving the redhead a final shove into the kitchen.

[Etna, Damon in the kitchen. Newt invites Damon to go play fetch. Etna fusses. Deceit calls for her over the com.]

Deceit was angry. That much was obvious.

“But I don’t want-”

“I do not care what you want.” Deceit snapped, looking up. “You damn near got yourself killed.”

“I was perfectly capable of handling myself, thank you-”

“By making a deal with an archangel, in which you give up your heart and soul.” She sighed. “Merc, you cannot do that.”

“But.”

“No. You’re getting a bodyguard, of my choosing, because you keep doing stupid shit that could potentially get you killed and now I cannot trust you to run through the bloody woods by yourself.” She waved, and the door opened of it’s own accord.

“This is Xavier, whom I believe you are priory acquainted with. He will see to it that you do not make any more dumb choices involving strangers, alone.” She paused and, after taking a look at her sister, quickly elaborated. “You can, however, make dumb choices with chemicals as long as you’re wearing the correct protective gear.”
