Hana Estrisabi
Hana Etresabi (Day of Nests/Homes) is a spring holiday that is celebrated by most Afavi. The holiday is meant to revolve around families, both the commemoration of current ones and the formation of new ones.
Observance
During Hana Etresabi, unmarried couples usually go on dates or visit each other's homes to meet the parents.
Married couples may also go on dates, but more often will have a feast with their parents and children (if they have any).
Hana Etresabi is also a very popular day for weddings. Temples and registry buildings are flooded with requests on this day every year, as it is believed that couples married on this day will be together eternally.
The main symbol of Hana Etresabi is a frog (specifically the Egeris Frog, but most don’t make that distinction). Couples will exchange candies in the shape of frogs, and frog soup or roasted frogs are common dishes at family feasts. In addition, windchimes or metal charms in the shape of frogs are commonly found hanging outside of homes and businesses.
