Tranquility City

Tranquility City is the largest city on Luna, the only moon of Earth. While it is technically a sovereign nation due to humanity’s Outer Space Treaty (which prohibits Earth nations from formally colonizing other planets), Tranquility City still has deep ties to several human  nations, including the United States of America, the Russian Federation, and Japan (Nippon).

Industry & Trade

Besides tourism, the two main industries of Tranquility are aluminum mining and fuel refinery. After stricter environmental regulations started to be put in place and space travel became cheaper for humans, many mining companies began to fund private space industry and started moving their factories off-planet. While some asteroids passing near Earth were captured and mined, Luna is by far a more popular place due to its relative closeness. The fuel refinery industry of Tranquility is what gives it the nickname of “The Gateway to the Stars”. Many space travellers preparing for longer journeys to Mars or further use Tranquility as a jumping-off point.

Tourism

As Luna was the first celestial body that humans visited, the city is a popular destination for both space and history enthusiasts. The site of the first human landing has been preserved about 20 miles outside the city limits. The city proper hosts the Armstrong Museum, named for the first human to set foot on Luna.
