Djourni Beasts (jor nee)

Djourni beasts are massive, bovine adjacent ruminant quadrupeds that naturally populate the planes between Luenlan and Dweda Zaara. Their shaggy, hulking shapes can be mistaken for hills against the horizon or in low light.
They are commonly domesticated by reyna to carry their settlements on their backs.

Growth Rate & Stages

Infant djourni beasts are already the size of a modest house at birth. They are usually up on their feet and starting to run around within their first hours of life.

Ecology and Habitats

Their shaggy coats mean that they can be comfortable even in colder climes such as the southern reaches of An Gra and the heights of the mountain ranges. Their size makes navigating the steepest stretches of mountain more difficult, but it is not impossible to find a passable path.
However, they are happiest meandering across the stepped plains, where they tend to dominate the landscape and have very little competition.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Djourni beasts are ruminant browsers, which means they generally help themselves to whatever flora they please as they meander. They have even been known to scavenge from predators' kills.
