Hearthfyre Temples

Written & Created by Khali A. Crawford

Effect

Hearthfyre Temples can do a number of things depending on the Maiden who Keeps it and other factors but some of the most notable effects are;
  • Seal of Pacifism: A Majikal attribute that prevents anyone from being harmed mentally or physically while within the Temple. Thoughts of aggression fade away and one losses nerve when trying to arm themselves. Even two sworn enemies will behave, all who wander the night are welcome to the Hearthfyre, regardless of race, sex, creed, or affiliation.
  • In Her Embrace: When granted haven by the Fyre Maiden, travelers will find their wounds healing at an exceptional rate along with a stronger life force. But most importantly, those who sit around the same fire come to understand and reason with each other to a deeper level, otherwise not acquired through normal means. This understanding can lead to enlightenment.
  • Law of Absolutes, Invincibility: All Maidens have Absolute Invincibility so long as their Fyre remains lit and they are within their Temple. If both conditions are met, a Maiden cannot be harmed Physically or Majikally. Of course this Law can be lifted should a Maiden anger Deidra herself.

Manifestation

Temple of Fyre

Hearthfyre Temples can vary in appearance but they typically resemble a stone or metal-like material, they can be found quite literally anywhere. Some are space stations floating in the void, others are built on long-abandoned planets and others can even be found in metaphysical places like the Mind or the 5th Dimension. Anywhere that "exists", one can likely find a Fyre Temple. Even at the End of Time.

The Embrace of a Great One

The Fyre that resides in the heart of all Temples is linked to the very power of Deidra herself. Her power increases with every temple made and every person who comes into her covenant seeking to understand each other. Because of this, her power is always growing, and thus the power of the Fyre always grows. This power drips down into the Maidens who share her God's Embrace with weary travelers and vagabonds who come to rest at their Temples.

Discovery

Back in the 2nd Age: Kingdom Come, Her Grace, Hasadiah, The First Name of God, granted a number of Great Old One's representation in Yggdrasil. Among them was Deidra of the Old Fyre who brought with her Fyre Maidens and Hearthfyre Temples. The Old Fyre is used to connect and link people, places, and ideas, in the hopes of creating one unified creation.
The Hearthfyre Temples, each one individually, act as their own Throne World for Deidra and her Maidens act as her Vessels, much as Yggdrasil has Her Grace, Hasadiah, as it's vessel. Deidra would disburse her Temples across the entirety of Yggdrasil to spread the Old Fyre and bring unity and understanding to the denizens of Yggdrasil.
Even after the Great War in Heaven, the Temples would remain and even grow in number, serving as a sort of respite from all the misery and agony of the cosmos. Because these were Throne Worlds where time moved differently, one could rest here for as long as they desired. Some even found the calm and safe nature of the temples so alluring that they would remain as Attendants to the Fyre Maiden.
