House Sivis

The Mark of Scribing deals with communication; both the written and spoken word. A gnome of House Sivis who bears the mark can feel words as though they are living creatures, struggling to make their meaning known. The mark provides a range of gifts. It translates languages, but it also allows its bearer to communicate with others at a distance. For a long time, House Sivis served themselves and facilitated communication between the other houses. Since the Houses recognition and invitation to participate fully within the Union of Helleya, it has become common practice to see a gnome bearing the Mark of Scribing within the court of every prominent noble. Whilst far more expensive, their own form of long range communication has proved far more instant and efficient than any trained bird or paid rider. This prominence within Helleyan high society has, in turn, helped House Sivis' own ventures. In particular, its close association with The Khorvaire Chronicler, a continent wide leading political and cultural magazine which has made a reputation for itself in uncovering big scoops and hot controversies. This has led to an odd situation whereby many employers of Sivis communicators have taken to encoding their messages from the very servants who are paid to send them.
