House Vadalis

House Vadalis have always kept themselves quite separate from the other Marked Bloodlines. Initially, this was not by choice. Scorned and ridiculed as the clearly least powerful house, their early leaders turned to other means to prove their usefulness. Their gifted affinity with nature and its beasts was soon warped and twisted by this ambition to be taken seriously and House Vadalis is now known for the monstrosities it has created through interbreeding and other nefarious magical means. Some have become common place, like the Owlbear, whilst other creations of theirs are spoken about in hushed whispers and feared ghost stories. House Vadalis and their creations soon developed a most distrusted reputation, though this did not stop powerful crime lords and even some Khorvairian aristocracy from seeing the potential in hiring the more tamed of their abominations. An underground trade of dangerous creatures soon sprung up with House Vadalis at the centre of it. Even when the Marked Bloodlines were given official recognition by Empress Dionissia, House Vadalis chose to stay within the shadows. Partially to maintain the profitability of the black market they had cultivated but also out of fears for their safety. More than any other house, Vadalis has made powerful enemies throughout its history. Amongst the Fey and followers of both Karametra and Nylea, Vadalis has many who would wish to what many consider their atrocities to nature.
