Paragon Oracle Solsemon, The Voyager

Born to minor nobility in the still forming Breland heartland, Solsemon led a mostly unextraordinary life besides given up the privilege he was born into to serve Heliod, God of the Sun, in a nearby temple.   The tales say that his visions and prophecies mostly went ignored and disregarded as the ramblings of a madman rather than a mouthpiece of the gods. When he claimed that he had been tasked by the sun-bearer himself to journey east to visit the sun itself, his fellow devotees at the temple scoffed at the idea and were happy to see the back of him. What followed from there was a journey that has gone into legend.   Day after day he journeyed east, seeking the lands from which the sun rose. He journeyed far and was mocked everywhere people learned of his quest. Only his niece, Ermioni, believed his quest to be true and travelled with him, recording his ordeal as his sight grew ever weaker due to days on end spent staring at the sun. Yet still he traveled on. Even when blindness claimed Solsemon’s sight, the oracle continued undaunted. Finally, one day, Solsemon found a warm, calm place. There, the powerful voice that had initially set him on this odyssey welcomed him to his journey’s end. Praising Heliod, the oracle took his rest, and after several long, contented hours, peacefully died. Having landed in Blood Crescent, he had become the first known person to circumnavigate Sfaírya. Ever since, the tale of Solsemon has been argued as both a parable of determination and a warning not to pursue that which is divine.

His epic quest across land and sea documented by Ermioni, news slowly spread through Khorvaire that Solsemon had made it all around the world and to the Demon Wastes on, supposedly, the word of Heliod. Worshippers of the Sun God soon began travelling to his final resting place and a temple was erected around his remains. Naming themselves The Sons of Solsemon, these travellers took his journey as a sign that Heliod wished his light to bring justice and righteousness to every corner of the Sfaíyra, even the Demon Wastes. So began the Solar Crusades.
