Sfaíyra is a world of stories. The tales told by its people make legends of heroes, give spirits form and even forge gods from naught but faith. The Elder Dragons are on decline and the Gods have not been seen in over a century. In the absence of these greater beings, the people of Sfaíyra turn instead to the new ways of industry and magic. In light of their own advancements, they begin to ask what need they ever had of the gods, why they ever let the constraints of piety and reverence hold back their progress so. Stories continue to shape Sfaíyra, they always will. But what stories will be told in generations to come? There are still those who tell of the might of the gods and the need for the lessons of morality and temperance they taught. Many now though, tell stories of the opportunity lain before mortals; to achieve greatness on their own terms, by their own means. Stories of great wealth and unrivalled power. There are cities now where the fumes of production are so heavy, they block out the sight of the heavens above at night and there are parishes where the faith forbids such practices, deemed unholy. The two, it seems, can not lie side by side. Which stories will prevail?
