Situation Report One
General Summary
Finally enjoying a week or two rest after a long campaign. Met two interesting characters in The Crock and Bull tavern as we shared stories. We ended up being hired by a man called Deltar of Urgon to track down his three missing crates of herbs. Started our inquiries and have suspicions about the man, the nature of the theft and burning of the bonded storage warehouse, and the true nature of his herbs. Still, 20% of the value of the herbs, if legitimate medicines, could realize a small fortune.
Resources
Ugnan of Vornia, a healer with a real knack for getting folk to talk. Sharna Maen-gal, a Changramai, Ug’s bodyguard with the lithe strength of a dancer. Sahrna’s quiet, but seems to attract respect from everyone she meets. Myself. Deltar paid us 3 gp, 20 sp and 20 cp as an advance. Bloody city is a maze of canals. I hate not being able to easily run of a morning, but it’s chock full of helpful people.
Actions
Had suspicions about our new employer. Pursued three lines of questioning to retrieve the herbs: witnesses to the fire and theft; possible motive for the theft and fire; suspicions about our employer.
Witnesses
Gerud, the barman at The Crock and Bull in the South Commons directed us to Davos Cloot at The Old Sword Inn a short distance from the burned warehouse in North Delta. Davos provided some intel, including his recollection that the warehouse guard went missing shortly before the theft and fire. Unearthed some vague details about a feral street gang called The Gargoyles from his bumbling trainee Thuro. Also learned of a girl called Sherl who may have connections to The Gargoyles, a ruthless property owner who owned the warehouse named Braern Fenvyre, and a nasty-sounding thug called Olvar One-thumb.
Motives
No idea yet. Were herbs real or contraband?
Our Employer
Made inquiries at the House of Records, which has to be the dullest and most pointless waste of effort I’ve ever witnessed.
Next Steps
Find and question someone in the Gargoyles via Sherl, Old Mother Cloot, the missing warehouse night watchman, Fenvyre and Olver. I’m looking forward to speaking with Olver. The man sounds a right prick. Understand who Deltar is, and the truth about the contents of his herb crates; try seeking the bill of goods for a ship called Wave Sprinter, which docked in the North part of Sel-kai.
