Temple Of Eissa

One of the largest places of worship to the Lady of Orhan in all of Emer, this building is not only a temple (which they call a ‘Chapter House’), but a hospital. In an enclosed court behind the temple is an herb garden.   Eissa is the Goddess of life and death, and is said to hold the keys to the Gates of Oblivion. The Sisters do not actively recruit a “congregation;” instead they have temples staffed with women skilled in the healing arts. All who profess to follow the Lords of Orhan are welcome in the Houses of Eissa, though“contributions” for services are strongly encouraged, and usually codified.   The Temple of Eissa is located on the Avenue of the Gods.

The Sisters Of Eissa

The Sisters are (not surprisingly) entirely female, usually various mortal and Elven races. They usually wear white flowing gowns with a belt; the color of the belt indicates rank. The chief Priestess is called eldest and has a gold belt with crystal keys. The next rank are called elder sisters, with silver belts. The rest are called simply sisters and wear a blue belt. Novitiates have a white belt.   In many temples, the Sisters will make clear their disapproval of killing—even creatures like Lugrôki and Goblins. Sisters are not often seen outside of urban environments, but sometimes a Temple will hire out a sister’s services for a large caravan or other major journey.

Eldest Sister Odama

Odama is an aloof, imperious woman, with a chilling personality. However, she is also fair, and—on rare occasions—generous. In every church at least one woman (often the Eldest) can raise the dead, and Odama is no exception. However, she will often demand a reason for bringing the victim back (in addition to the ‘tithe’).

Healing & Hospital Services

Many Elder Sisters are Clerics or Healers, and will aid unfortunates who are sick or injured. They do not technically charge a fee but ask for a tithe or ‘donation’ (the“donation”should approximate the value of the herbs/services, however, or future aid might be denied). In addition to the Clerical Sisters, this Chapter House has several Lay Healers on its staff to support the Sisters’ workload. Also female, they wear blue tunics and are referred to as Surgeons, because their mode of operation involves more actual medical work than simply laying on of hands. All seriously injured supplicants are taken to treatment rooms off the main sanctuary. The hospital portion of the Chapter House is on the upper levels, and includes numerous private and semi-private rooms, and four wards. General care is provided by the regular Sisters and the Novitiates.

Hospital stay costs

Private Room 5 sp bedding, food, care
Semi Private Room 3 sp bedding, food, care
Ward (6 – 20) 1 sp bedding, food, care
Hospitalization allows for 1.25-2x faster heal rate (depends on quality of care; not including magical or herbal cures).

One of the largest temples in Sel-kai. Devoted to the worship of Eissa, Goddess of Life and Death. The temple (a "Chapter House") also has a hospital.
