The Cultists Of Sel-kai: Part Two

General Summary

Beyond the doors, the party discover a deep and impressively constructed subterranean world of cisterns, pumps and pipes that once supplied much of the Old City with fresh water. The pump mechanism has all but failed and the waters of the first huge chamber are still and untroubled. Lyssa happily declareds them to be clean but moments after entering the water, the young elemental flees back into Cherry's small container. Something in the water has clearly terrified the elemental and she will not enter the waters under the city.   Using a small skiff that they had bought with them, Cran rows the party across to a stone platform on the other side; the giant spider that lairs in the vaulted roof is killed with a combination of arrow and spell. On the other side, they discover robed cultists who fight viciously to protect what is clearly their headquarters. Led by a powerful spell caster who lays a potent stamina-sapping curse on Cran, they are eventually defeated but their leader manages to escape using his magic. The companions discover a small meeting chamber and two locked trunks. The first holds clothing, very fine clothing of the sort one by only the wealthiest citizens. The second is very disturbing as it reveals the Cultist's plans to bring Eidolon crashing out of the sky. Somehow, the cult of The Iron Bell have acquired detailed schematics of Eidolon and a sample of the crafted metal alloy that gives the sky-city its gravity-defying powers. The metal is a closely guarded secret; none out side the Prince's closets council have even seen the metal whose crafting is the most closely guarded secret in Sel-kai and Eidolon. The metal is thought to be impervious to corrosion and wear but the Cult have clearly found something that can eat away at the metal. Next to a smaple of "sky-metal" is a strange green-veined rock. The metal is pitted and "rotten" where it has been in contact with the stone.   Ugnan is deeply worried as are the rest of the group and they decide to head back to talk urgently with Eloen Para.   Dragged from his bed, the head of Elgata Intelligence is at first grumpy and clearly out of sorts but his horror and worry at what you have uncovered is soon apparent and he agrees that Lord Elgata must be summoned. It is Sylke who suggests how The Iron Bell could have laid hands on what is Sel-kai's most guarded secret; Koren Maas, the disgraced former Minister of Security and a close confidant of Prince Rylec Qaterris would have had access to all of the realms secrets…..
