Fashion trends of the Soulhusk Chimera
They may seem little more than mindless abominations to most who come across them, and the wise would consider them thus if they wish to survive long in the deserts of Ardi-Kokufa. But it has been noted by more than one intrepid anthropologist of the wastes, that it seems the Soulhusk Chimeras are more discerning about the parts of their victims that they scavenge than might have first been surmised.
Who knows where these trends will take them, but moon-by-moon the styles seem to evolve as quickly as the shifting sands of the desert.
In Dad's generation, there would be nuffin' left. Maybe just a bit of hair off the old scalp, a few drops of dried blood. Nuffin' went to waste. Now it seems, them soulhusks are gettin' choosey. Collecting certain things, leaving other bits behind. Look, if you just want me legs, let me know. If it means i can drag myself back to the Godswollen with my life, well maybe that's worth a barter, maybe a deal can be made, eh?Since rumours of The City with a Million Limbs have spread, so too have patterns been spotted in the Chimera who have been encountered across the wasts. They bring what can only be described as a new sense of order, and dare we say it, a sense of style and flair that challenges us to think. There seem to be two broad schools emerging for the fashion-conscious Chimera to adhere to:
The Symmetridious
These Chimera tend to favour long limbs, but always in even numbers, and stitched together with a certain symmetry and sinuous grace that belies their gruesome origins. They tend to walk upright and mimic the mannerisms of the kin they seek to emulate.
They are often found in groups of like design, where the pattern of limb construction matches. This provides a sense of cohesion and visual rhythm where normally we would see just a chaotic assemblage of body parts.
This coordination extends beyond their looks to their actions as they coordinate their movements as well as their looks.
it does tend to make them perhaps a little predictable, but when they work together, the scale of their presence can be nothing less than pure, if terrible, grandeur.
The Squalidiscous
These tend to value gritty individualism, and pride themselves on their uniqueness, especially when compared to the kin from whom they source their parts. Their forms are the least humanoid, often mixing unusual parts together in unique combinations. Limbs are entirely optional, and rarely, if ever, matching.
Where the Symmetridious dazzle with unified spectacle, the Squadiliscious astound with variety.
They are surprising, daring, never ones to rest on tradition. This makes them unpredictable, exciting even.
