Ares-Segway Terrier
ARES-SEGWAY TERRIER
The Terrier is an interesting twist on an old design. It’s
basically two wheels, a place to stand, and a backrest.
It’s awkward to drive when you first get on because
leaning back makes you feel like you’re going to tip
over, but once you’ve got the hang of it, these things
are quite fun. The Terrier has no manual controls. Its
predecessor, the PT2060, was the last model to still
have a control bar in front rather than the backrest.
Now it’s completely controlled via AR using either the
onboard system with control glove and glasses or a
datajack.
Riggers, as well as hackers and mages, have been known to use the Terrier to haul them around with their teams when they go shifting their consciousness to other realities, because the gyro-stabilization system keeps the vehicle upright, and the pilot program is decent. With a little modification (i.e., a better sensor package), the Terrier also makes a decent and inconspicuous sensor platform for scoping out areas while looking like an upgraded pedestrian.
